Job summary

Mars Petcare is seeking a Reliability Maintenance Technician in Columbus, OH. Pay ranges from $36.52 to $42.62 per hour plus a $1.50 shift premium; a $5K sign-on bonus is offered. This site manufactures petfood and operates rotating 12-hour shifts across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairs, and driving improvements to keep production running. Minimums include a high school diploma with 2+ years in maintenance or a technical bachelor's with 1+ year

Responsibilities

• Close unplanned work orders with a clear description of problems and actions taken.
• Inspect equipment for wear, fatigue and damage.
• Communicate issues to the System Technician and propose solutions for recurrent issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and systems.
• Collaborate with System Technicians to improve system performance.
• Train associates new to the area.
• Support overtime during short staffing on shifts during call-offs and vacation.
• Comply with Mars Petcare quality and food safety policies and standards.
• Handle ad hoc requests.

Shift Schedule:

Rotating Shift:

• 1st shift: Mon-Fri: 7A-3:30P; Sat-Sun 7A-7:30P
• 2nd shift: Mon-Fri: 3P-11:30P
• 3rd shift: Mon-Fri: 11P- 7:30A; Sat-Sun 7P-7:30A
• "4th Shift": OFF 5 days

Description of Role:

The Maintenance Technician (Single Serve) responds to unplanned work orders to safely and quickly bring equipment back to production status. Troubleshoot, diagnose and make required repairs that include but are not limited to controls, electrical and mechanical equipment and systems during factory runtime and down time while also driving continuous improvement.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent education AND 2+ years of experience in a maintenance capacity

OR

• Bachelor's degree in technical area (Ex: Engineering) AND 1+ years' experience in a maintenance related capacity
• Previous experience in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment
• Proficient using computer software's (ex: MS Office, SAP, and email)

Physical Requirements:

• Can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
• Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling, and gripping.
• Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment, and operate in confined spaces.
• Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods, with shifts lasting 12 hours
• Capable of working in hot, cold and wet conditions
• Proficient in understanding, communicating, reading, and writing in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical degree or certification(s)
• 3+ years' experience as a maintenance technician
• Basic material machining and welding knowledge
• Knowledge of electrical systems
• Predictive and conditioned maintenance skills
• Read and interpret blueprints, basic/intermediate electrical schematics and PLC ladder logic.

What will be your Key Responsibilities?

• Ensure complete and timely closeout of unplanned work orders with a clear description of the observed problems, actions taken and follow-ups
• Inspect equipment for wear, metal fatigue and damage.
• Communicate issues observed to the System Technician and develop solutions for recurrent issues.
• Perform assigned preventive maintenance on equipment and systems.
• Work with the System Technicians to improve performance of systems.
• Train associates new to the area.
• Support department with overtime, covering short staffing on shifts during call offs and vacation.
• Comply to Mars Petcare quality and food safety policies, procedures, QMP and other auditable quality, food safety and regulatory standards in order to ensure a safe and quality product intended to delight the consumer.
