Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute reliability plans for the mill.

Job description

The Reliability Engineer role in the pulp dryer department at the Leaf River Cellulose Mill in New Augusta, MS is responsible for supporting the area’s reliability, efficiency, and production improvements through asset strategy development, root cause analysis, outage scope management, asset health and condition monitoring, and strategic investment. This role is also a key member for the Dryer department and accountable helping support the team’s objectives associated with Environmental, Safety, Quality, culture, personnel while ensuring alignment with the company’s management philosophy, Principle Based Management (MBM®) .

This role will report to the area reliability leader and work with them to establish and drive key reliability initiatives focused on driving improvement.The team is responsible for developing tactical and strategic improvement plans targeting known gaps as identified by the team through asset strategy development, investment, and maintenance repair through area and annual outage planning cycles.

Our Team

The Leaf River Cellulose Mill is a large paper plant, north of New Augusta, Mississippi. They produce filter grade pulp and market pulp, which is used in the manufacturing of coffee filters, vacuum cleaner bags, automotive filters, printing paper, tissue paper, and coated paper.

What You Will Do
  • Effectively support the mill vision in the development and execution of reliability plans.
  • Actively participate in driving a safety culture where employees address unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors and make suggestions for improvements.
  • Support Environmental, Health & Safety excellence and operational areas with a focus on reliability improvements.
  • Support Lubrication and Vibration Technicians in program execution, including oil analysis, Vibration analysis, new technology implementation, and material procurement.
  • Analyze operational targets and equipment costs to identify gaps utilizing data driven analysis for potential improvement solutions.Collaborate with maintenance, operations, engineering, or others to vet opportunities and/ or execute improvements.
  • Work with other Georgia Pacific Reliability subject matter experts (SME) to share knowledge.Utilize appropriate strategies to improve equipment or operational strategies.Use GP reliability network to keep current with the latest technology, tools, and best practices.
  • Ensure inspections, PMs, and QA/QC methods deployed can identify the damage mechanisms as early as possible
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement for contribution-motivated employees to ensure a high level of value creation
  • Helps develop and critique outage planning processes, defines outage scope, and aids in the execution and tracking of outsourcing. Work with others to improve the outage processes.
  • Help develop strategic investment portfolio for the area based on performance gaps and ensure projects are initiative to help support the area plans.
  • Monitor and engage team with support systems such as PHA, MOC, Trax, and Incident review
  • Get involved tactically with upset conditions and failures to drive RCA work through the team
  • Monitor and assess reliability performance, build reports, and scorecards that help communicate and connect the team to the issues and improvement work.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field of study or (5) + years of Mechanical/reliability experience in manufacturing, industrial, chemical, oil & gas, or military environment
  • Experience with reliability improvement tools to reduce unplanned downtime
  • Experience with Microsoft systems and other tools to communicate and analyze data
  • Basic understanding of lubrication and vibration analysis
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience in Pulp & Paper industry, specifically the utilities area
  • Project, process, or reliability engineering experience in an industrial setting
  • Experience in implementing effective reliability strategies that support a culture of continuous improvement
  • Certification or continued education in reliability applications, practices, and management
  • Experience utilizing Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) or similar programs
  • Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for direct reports
  • Experience working in vibration monitoring systems
  • Vibration training and/or certifications
  • Lubrication training and/or certifications
