Job description

Georgia-Pacific Consumer Manufacturing Group is seeking qualified professionals to consider for a Reliability Engineer role supporting the Consumer Products Group Operations located in Zachary, LA. The Port Hudson facility uses integrated technology to manufacture tissue and paper towel products in a progressive production environment.

The Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring that equipment and systems function consistently and effectively. This involves identifying potential issues and implementing solutions to enhance reliability, thereby improving productivity and reducing costs.

What You Will Do

  • Embrace influential leadership to support the organization while advancing our Principle-Based Management (PBM) culture
  • Analyze failure data to identify trends and root causes of equipment failures
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity
  • Use predictive maintenance techniques such as vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and oil analysis to anticipate equipment issues before they lead to downtime
  • Conduct FMEA to identify potential failure modes and their effects on operations
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to develop reliable systems and processes
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in equipment reliability, availability, and maintainability
  • Stay connected with Georgia-Pacific's commitment to continuous improvement; you will lead or participate in projects aimed at enhancing quality, operational efficiency, and cost reduction
  • Assist with the implementation of new technologies, conducting process audits, and driving a culture of innovation and problem-solving
  • Identify potential safety hazards, implement preventive measures, and promote a culture of safety awareness among the reliability team

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Knowledge of paper manufacturing processes, equipment, and industry standards
  • Prior experience working within a paper/pulp manufacturing, industrial, or military environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with reliability engineering tools and techniques
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency in data analysis and predictive maintenance technologies
  • Experience with root cause analysis and process control techniques
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to manage projects effectively, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
