Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years engineering experience in a refinery or chemical plant.
  • Mechanical Engineering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implements corporate Mechanical Integrity program at the site.
  • Collects and analyzes reliability metrics to identify bad actors.
  • Participates in development and installation of predictive maintenance programs and technology applications.
  • Coordinates with site stakeholders to maintain stocking levels of parts and equipment for maximum uptime at lowest costs.
  • Executes identification and elimination of bad actors and optimizes equipment availability.
  • Monitors field inoperable equipment logs for remediation needs.
  • Assesses and adjusts specific equipment tolerances and specifications.
  • Participates in equipment failure investigations and cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Plans and coordinates projects from inception to completion, supporting CAPEX.
  • Contributes to Process Safety Management elements at the site.

Introduction

Join Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) as a Reliability Engineer based in Port Arthur, where you will play a key role in advancing equipment reliability, asset performance, and operational excellence across the site. In this highly collaborative position, you will lead efforts to identify and eliminate equipment reliability issues, optimize maintenance strategies, and improve overall asset availability while supporting CPChem's commitment to safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Turnaround, and Engineering teams, you will leverage reliability data, predictive maintenance technologies, and engineering best practices to drive sustainable improvements in equipment performance and long‑term asset health. You will also lead equipment failure investigations, develop Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEAs) and Asset Strategies, and contribute to site reliability initiatives that support business objectives and operational integrity.

In addition, you will provide oversight of vendor repair activities to ensure quality, compliance, and adherence to repair specifications, while serving as a key reliability resource during turnaround planning, execution, and post‑turnaround optimization efforts. Responsibilities
  • Implements corporate Mechanical Integrity program at the site.
  • Collects and analyzes reliability metrics to identify bad actors.
  • Participates in the development, design and installation of predictive maintenance programs and technology applications to identify and eliminate defects.
  • Coordinates with site stakeholders to establish and maintain the proper stocking levels of parts and equipment required to provide maximum equipment uptime at the lowest possible costs.
  • Executes the identification and elimination of bad actors and the optimization of equipment availability.
  • Monitors field inoperable equipment logs for remediation needs.
  • Assesses and adjusts specific equipment tolerances and specifications.
  • Participates in equipment failure investigations and cause analysis and implement action items to prevent recurrence using Cause Analysis tools.
  • Plans and coordinates projects from inception to completion ensuring efficient implementation, timely completion, and compliance to budget. Contributes on larger capital projects (CAPEX).
  • Contributes to site efforts to implement Process Safety Management elements at the site.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years ofengineering experience in a refinery or chemical plant
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mechanical Engineering experience
