Job summary

Exowatt is hiring a Reliability Engineer to own long-term dependability of the P3 system in the field, with duties spanning lab testing, field data analysis, and failure-data-driven improvements. You will drive ALT/HASS programs, lead FMEA/RCM studies, and coordinate with design and manufacturing to ensure uptime goals are met across the deployment environment.

You will work in our Austin, TX facility with relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
• 5+ years of reliability engineering experience with electromechanical or thermal hardware.
• Experience designing and executing ALT, HALT, HASS tests.
• Proficiency with reliability analysis methods: FMEA, FTA, RBD, FRACAS, RCM.
• Strong statistical foundation: Weibull, life data, DOE, confidence bounds.
• Root-cause methodologies (8D, 5-Why, fishbone) and failure analysis.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Clear technical writing and communication with teams and leadership.
• Willingness to travel to test sites and customer deployments.

Responsibilities

• Own reliability requirements, targets, and budgets for P3 system hardware.
• Design and execute ALT, HALT, and HASS programs to validate life under thermal cycling, vibration, and operational stress.
• Lead FMEA and reliability-centered maintenance studies across design, NPI, and production ramp.
• Analyze field failure data, warranty returns, and in-service performance data to identify failure modes.
• Own the FRACAS process with design and manufacturing partners.
• Collaborate with design engineering on reliability-by-design: derating, thermal margin, fatigue life, creep, materials.
• Build and maintain reliability models (RBD, fault trees, MTBF/MTTF) and support availability analysis.
• Define and track reliability KPIs and report to leadership.
• Partner with Quality Engineering to connect supplier quality data to field outcomes.
