Job summary

James Hardie Building Products Inc. in the United States seeks a Reliability Engineer to implement preventive/predictive maintenance, maximize equipment reliability and develop strategies to improve site maintenance.

You will work with CMMS (MP2 or similar), create equipment identifications and BOMs, write PM procedures, and collaborate with maintenance and production to raise asset productivity while meeting regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • As described, a BS in Engineering is preferred and 3+ years in a manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Experience with CMMS (MP2 or similar) and strong communication skills are required.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and develop maintenance strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Populate CMMS with equipment and numbering; create BOMs.
  • Write preventive maintenance procedures and set frequencies.
  • Collaborate with departments to maximize asset availability and productivity.

As a member of the maintenance improvement program reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Reliability Engineer performs functions to implement a preventive /predictive maintenance program which will maximize site equipment reliability and develop strategies and methods that improve site preventive/predictive maintenance.

What You’ll Do:

Population of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) by:

  • Identifying all equipment and creating equipment identification lists and assigning respective numbers to each piece of equipment;
  • Creating bill of materials for all equipment;
  • Writing preventive maintenance procedures and frequencies based on vendor recommendations, professional experience, and best available practice; and
  • Drawing updates for fabricated parts.

Works and collaborates with various departments to develop and maintain specific targets, strategies and tactics to maximize equipment availability to drive asset productivity improvement by:

  • Reviewing preventive maintenance (PM) procedures and modifying accordingly;
  • Reviewing existing data to investigate equipment trends;
  • Identifying failure modes and writing preventive procedures;
  • Implementing predictive maintenance (PdM) technology;
  • Writing work process improvements;
  • Setting up reliability based metrics while ensuring compliance with all regulatory agency and company requirements; and
  • Designing and developing new and unique repair methods and procedures.

Work closely with maintenance and/or production personnel to resolve chronic equipment related issues by appropriately using reliability tools such as:

  • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM);
  • Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA);
  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA); and
  • Predictive technologies such as thermal imaging, vibration analysis, and acoustic monitoring.

Required:

  • Skilled with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and other proprietary software).
  • Experience with a computer maintenance management system (CMMS), such as MP2 or similar system.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and continual diligence about follow-up.
  • Strong desire to learn.
  • Well organized with the ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able to lead and be a part of cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledgeable of root cause and fault tree analysis techniques.

Education/Experience:

Required:

  • BS Degree in Engineering preferred (Industrial ,Mechanical ,Electrical or Chemical).
  • 3 or more years experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment.
What You’ll Receive:

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $90k to $110k. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
