Job summary

OneOK seeks a seasoned mechanical reliability engineer to support rotating equipment across our Kansas frac and storage assets. You will troubleshoot, educate staff on preventative/predictive tech, and deliver data-driven recommendations to bolster reliable operations.

Key duties include leading major overhauls, implementing maintenance programs, conducting failure analyses, and promoting the Maximo asset system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or reliability engineering required.
  • Experience in oil, gas, refining, or petrochemical industries welcomed.
  • CMMS experience with Maximo or SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee major overhauls for rotating, reciprocating, and electrical instrumentation equipment.
  • Act as the point of contact for maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues.
  • Support non-routine repairs and conduct failure analyses (RCA).
  • Lead equipment upgrade projects and participate in the MOC process.
  • Develop predictive and preventive maintenance programs for rotating, reciprocating, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
  • Lead FMEA and equipment criticality analyses.
  • Maintain equipment documentation and spare parts strategies.
  • Provide startup support during turnarounds and outages.
  • Promote Maximo usage among maintenance teams.
  • Research new technologies and recommend equipment purchases for operability and reliability.
  • Benchmark and improve process reliability using modeling software.

Job Summary

OneOK is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to provide support and technical assistance for rotating equipment across our Kansas frac and storage assets. The candidate will maximize the effectiveness of existing equipment, recommend new solutions, and serve as a key contact for internal customers. This role requires troubleshooting, educating employees on preventative and predictive technologies, and delivering data-driven recommendations to support reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee major mechanical equipment overhauls for rotating, reciprocating, and electrical instrumentation equipment.
  • Serve as point‑of‑contact for maintenance groups regarding mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues.
  • Support non‑routine repairs and failure analysis processes, including cause mapping and incident investigations.
  • Engineer and implement equipment upgrade projects and participate in the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance programs for rotating/reciprocating equipment, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
  • Lead failure analysis investigations, FMEA, and equipment criticality analysis.
  • Maintain and update equipment documentation and spare part strategies.
  • Provide engineering support to maintenance and equipment analyst teams, including start‑up support and technical assistance during turnarounds and outages.
  • Promote and expand the use of the corporate asset management system (Maximo).
  • Research and stay current on new technologies, and recommend equipment purchases for operability, maintainability, and reliability.
  • Benchmark, track, and improve process reliability; utilize equipment modeling software to conduct efficiency studies.
Education

Bachelor's Degree in mechanical or reliability engineering, or an equivalent combination of formal education and relevant work experience.

Work Experience
  • 3‑5 years of related experience in the oil, gas, refining, or petrochemical industry.
  • Experience leading failure and root cause analysis (RCA) initiatives.
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), such as Maximo or SAP.
  • Experience coordinating preventive and predictive maintenance programs for rotating, reciprocating, instrument, and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of government regulations, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Competency in using office software and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and mentor teams.
  • Proficiency in applying math, algebraic formulas, calculus, and statistics.
  • Strong presentation and training skills for diverse audiences.

Physical Demands / Strength Factor
  • Work is predominantly sedentary with occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 10 pounds.
  • Walking and standing may be required occasionally or frequently, depending on task.
  • Continuous sitting is expected; standing, bending, and reaching are common.
  • Manual dexterity and fingertip sensitivity are constant requirements.
  • Verbal communication and occasional talking are frequent.
