Job description

Job Summary

Directs or performs advanced level activities related to mechanical work on equipment at compressor, pipeline, storage, gathering, fractionation and/or gas processing facilities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical work on fixed and rotating equipment at various locations, including engines, compressors, pumps, generators, turbines, valves, electrical equipment, and well equipment.
  • Service, troubleshoot, maintain, install and repair structural, mechanical, electrical and/or well equipment.
  • Conduct and interpret performance analyses, including emissions testing.
  • Train and direct employees involved in mechanical work.
  • Order and/or secure parts and supplies.
  • Drive and ensure maintenance is complete on company vehicles.
  • Maintain, prepare and/or interpret reports and records such as work logs, service orders, inspection reports, engine/equipment maintenance and repair records, pressure readings, material and supply orders, and engine and compressor oil analysis reports.
  • Perform Department of Transportation-covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline.
  • Be alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, preventing serious injury or property damage.

Work Experience
  • Experience with the use and function of hand and power tools and equipment applicable to the position.
  • Advanced knowledge servicing, maintaining and repairing equipment.
  • Experience with company and/or governmental operating/safety policies and procedures.
  • Advanced experience in troubleshooting equipment abnormalities and failure modes analysis.
  • Experience reading and interpreting work and repair orders, drawings, charts, diagrams, dials, gauges, warranties, quotations, procedures and manuals.
  • Experience preparing, processing, verifying records, safety and environmental reports, diagrams, and material and supply orders.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of ordering and/or securing parts and supplies.
  • Ability to apply addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals and percentages.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange information and instructions.
  • Ability to work in confined areas.
  • Ability to react immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform precise tuning and timing work.
  • Ability to utilize fine motor skills for making minute adjustments.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Work: Medium. Requires exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently. Physical demands include standing frequently, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, and maintaining manual dexterity. Requires frequent vision, hearing, and color perception. Working conditions include well‑lit climate‑controlled areas, occasional outdoor weather, wet or humid environments, extreme cold or heat, dust, fumes, gases, moving mechanical parts, potential electric shock, vibration, loud noises, and unprotected heights. Travel to other locations and driving in a company vehicle may be required.
