Job summary

ONEOK in Honolulu, Hawaii seeks a Maintenance Technician to provide operational, electrical, and mechanical support for area assets. The role conducts troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, and repairing equipment with minimal supervision.

You will perform routine testing, inspections, and repairs on mainline and facility equipment, manage location projects, and ensure safety and documentation, with teamwork and SIP/DOT requirements in focus.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.
  • Two years of maintenance and operation experience in industrial/chemical settings preferred.
  • Experience with pipeline facilities and related equipment is a plus.

Job Summary

The Technician is responsible for providing operational, electrical, and mechanical support for area assets. The incumbent performs troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, and repairing equipment within an assigned area independently or with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for assigned location(s).
  • Maintain a working knowledge of company policies and procedures related to the operation and maintenance of assigned assets, including System Integrity Plan (SIP) and OQ requirements.
  • Attend and actively participate in required safety training meetings.
  • Perform routine testing, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all assigned mainline and facility equipment and systems, including pumps, electric motors, electrical equipment, electronics and/or pneumatic instrumentation, programmable logic controllers, measurement systems, product testing and analysis, piping systems, valves, centrifugal, positive displacement pumps, positive displacement meters, turbine meters, and other similar equipment.
  • Complete and maintain required documentation and records associated with performed maintenance and repair.
  • Manage location projects such as major overhauls, troubleshooting of pumps and mechanical seals, new installations, or modifications of existing equipment.
  • Perform other functions as requested by the Supervisor of Operations.
  • Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline.
  • Respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions to prevent serious injury or property damage.
Education
  • High School diploma required.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license to drive a Company vehicle.
  • Two years of experience in maintenance and operation of industrial and chemical manufacturing process plants or equivalent industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of Refined Products Pipelines, Terminals, Pump Stations is preferred.
  • Two years of vocational/technical training from a recognized institution majoring in electronics, electricity or diesel mechanics is preferred.
  • Experience with API 653 and DOT 195 pipeline operations is also preferred.
  • Technical work experience that can be applied within the assigned area of responsibility independently or with limited assistance.
  • Hands‑on mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and computer skills.
  • Effective organizational and administrative skills.
  • Communication skills for interacting with supervision, workgroup members, and customers.
  • Ability to function as a team leader among employees and/or contractors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the use and function of reciprocating or gas turbine engines, compressors, and electronic and processing equipment applicable to the position.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, electronics, tools and control systems.
  • Ability to apply addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and algebraic formulas.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange written and verbal information and instructions.
Licenses and Certifications
  • None required.
Physical Demands

Heavy work requiring the exertion of 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Standing, walking, and occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders or stairs, standing, and stooping are performed frequently or occasionally.
