Job summary

Marvin Test Solutions in Irvine, CA seeks a Reliability Systems Engineer with 5+ years of experience to qualify military and electronic/electro-mechanical assemblies for operation in harsh environments. You will develop and execute Qualification Test Plans, run rigorous functional, EMI and environmental tests, and provide reliability feedback during design reviews.

Responsibilities include creating FMEA and FRACAS analyses, MTBF/MTTR calculations, monitoring field data, and supporting the Lead

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in reliability engineering including FMEA and FRACAS.
• Experience calculating MTBF/MTTR and performing reliability predictions.
• Extensive knowledge of MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 (5+ years).

Responsibilities

• Ensuring electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies are properly designed for harsh environments.
• Qualifying designs via functional, EMI and environmental testing and providing feedback to the design team.
• Develop Qualification Test Plans and write Qualification Test Reports.
• Manage troubleshooting, documentation, and testing throughout qualification.
• Advise with engineers in design reviews to provide reliability findings and recommendations.
• Develop FMEA and FRACAS on Marvin Test Solutions products.
• Monitor failure data from customers to identify potential product improvements.
• Perform reliability predictions and MTBF calculations on components.

Overview of your day-to-day

• Ensuring electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies and products are properly designed to enable operation in harsh environments such as airborne, vehicle, and flight line.
• Qualifying the design of these assemblies and products via rigorous functional, EMI and environmental testing, to provide design feedback to the design team.
• Develop Qualification Test Plans and write the Qualification Test Reports.
• Managing the troubleshooting, documentation, and test of these assemblies and products throughout the qualification process
• Advising and conferring with engineers in design review meetings to provide reliability findings and recommendations
• Develop FMEA and FRACAS on MTS products.
• Supports the Lead Reliability Engineer and performs tasks assigned by same and/or the Shared Services Director
• Monitors failure data generated by customers using MTS' product to ascertain potential requirement(s) for product improvement.
• Perform Reliability predictions & Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) calculations on components

What qualifies you?

We’re looking for a professional with leadership skills and a knack for solving problems. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

5+ years of experience in all aspects of reliability engineering including:

• Performing Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
• Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
• Calculating Test Equipment/Test Systems Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR)
• Extensive experience and understanding of MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 (5+ years)

Experience in design requirements of mechanical, electromechanical, and electronics assemblies for military applications (5+ years)

Thorough understanding of mechanical design concepts, vibration effects on electronic and mechanical assemblies, ESS, stress analysis, thermal analysis.
