Responsibilities include reducing downtime, improving packaging efficiency, and driving cost savings through preventive, predictive and reliability–centered maintenance plans, with strong analytics and KPI reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or reliability engineering (or five years of relevant managerial experience in lieu of degree).
  • Five years of plant experience in food, agri-service, pharmaceutical or chemical industries.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering principles, maintenance management, and reliability prediction software.
  • LEAN, TPM and Six Sigma experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to communicate with multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead reliability strategy to drive world-class value chain performance.
  • Perform FMEA and RCA to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Design and execute preventive, predictive and reliability-centered maintenance plans.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager, The Reliability Engineer will lead and collaborate with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams ensure systems, equipment, and processes operate consistently, efficiently and safely by identifying risks, analyzing failures, and implementing preventive strategies. This role will plan for Packaging efficiency improvement, maintenance cost improvement, process reengineering, and adaptation technology. In addition, the ideal candidate will have effectively demonstrated an ability to continuously deliver cost savings opportunities by efficiency and downtime reduction, build strategic approach and methodologies, establish better services, and demonstrate leadership. Will have exceptional communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders

Position Responsibilities
  • Help Plant Manager to implement policies and programs to maximize yield, throughput, capacity and ensure high quality and low costs.
  • Responsible for deploying reliability strategy leading to world-class value chain processes.
  • Utilize KPIs to benchmark and drive continuous improvement strategies.
  • Reliability Engineer is responsible for maintaining the reliability and maintainability of equipment, systems, and processes. Key duties include:
    • Failure Analysis and Root Cause Investigation: Conduct Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify potential or recurring failures and implement corrective actions to prevent future issues.
    • Maintenance Strategy Development: Support Maintenance Manager in Designing and executing preventive, predictive and reliability centered maintenance plans to optimize system uptime and software to predict failures, monitor performance and prioritize improvement efforts.
    • Collaboration and cross-functional support: working with engineering and maintenance team to ensure new and existing systems/processes are reliable and optimized.
    • Establish reliability standards, procedures and metrics to guide operations and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Set up, execute and enforce departmental goals and procedures as per Plant Manager.
  • Conduct insightful ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues.
  • Coach, prepare and provide daily, weekly, and monthly reviews and analysis of current processes using operational metrics and reports
  • Provide support & Prepare data for weekly meetings and Monthly Operational Review Meetings.
  • Work with plant manager and other managers to deliver operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and cost performance
  • Act as back up for production manager or Maintenance Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, Electrical or Reliability Engineering. Candidate may substitute five (5) years of relevant managerial experience in lieu of degree.
  • Technical expertise: knowledge of reliability engineering principles, maintenance management, statistical analysis and reliability prediction software.
  • Industry certifications: Certifications such as Certifies Reliability Engineer (CRE) will be a plus.
  • Five (5) years of plant experience in food, Agri-service, pharmaceutical or chemical industry is required. Candidate substituting experience in lieu of degree must have a total of ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Experience with LEAN, TPM and Six Sigma is highly preferred.
  • Experience in roles with downtime improvement, increase packaging efficiency, cost-conscious focus, leading improvement projects is required
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders to achieve a closer working relationship and openness is required.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical disciplines to Production, Engineering and maintenance personnel and executives, both internal and external, is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel/Word/Power Point is required.
  • Ability to function and multi-task in a manufacturing environment is required.

The pay for this role in the state of New Jersey ranges from $99,000-132,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on a candidate’s experience, qualifications and/or other determining factors.
