Job summary

The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) is seeking a Senior Data Analyst, Reliability Assessment, to support independent assessment and reporting on reliability, adequacy, and risk to the interconnected bulk power system.

You will manage data, data infrastructure, and workflows for the reliability assessment team, develop data requests, promote data quality, and transform complex data into visualizations for NERC reliability assessment products.

Qualifications

• BS or AA in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Business Intelligence or equivalent.
• Previous experience in electric industry or energy regulatory/monitoring/analysis organizations.
• Familiarity with publicly available energy data sets (EIA, DOE, FERC, etc.) and relevant proprietary data sets.
• Intermediate-level skills in Python, Microsoft SQL Server, and Excel (Macros, VBA, PowerPivot).
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage data, data infrastructure, and workflows for teams assessing reliability of the North American Bulk Power System.
• Develop data requests and coordinate timely collection of reliability data from NERC registered entities.
• Develop and implement data quality processes and promote data quality best practices.
• Analyze and interpret generation, load, transmission, and natural gas data for reliability assessments.
• Support visualization of complex data for use in reliability assessments products.
• Collaborate with SMEs across NERC and the ERO Enterprise on data systems interoperability.
• Leverage datasets to identify trends and emerging reliability risks.
• Identify and propose solutions to data and technical analysis challenges.
• Gain working knowledge of NERC Reliability Assessments fundamentals.
• Implement and adhere to data collection, storage, safeguarding, and dissemination policies.
