Title: Release Engineer (Azure Preferred)

Location: Remote in AZ, OR or OH

Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and technically proficient Release Engineer to take full ownership of the release process across our engineering organization. This individual will serve as the central point of coordination for software deployments—working closely with development, QA, DevOps, and project teams to ensure smooth, timely, and reliable releases. Strong project management skills and hands-on experience with tools like TeamCity and Octopus Deploy are essential. Familiarity with tools such as GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD solutions is also welcome.

If you're someone who thrives at the intersection of process, technology, and collaboration—and if you also have experience as a hands-on DevOps engineer in Azure environments using Terraform that would be even better but not required—this is a high-impact role with significant ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the entire release lifecycle—from planning and coordination to execution and post-release support.
• Act as the primary liaison between engineering, QA, DevOps, and project management to ensure alignment and timely delivery.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using TeamCity and Octopus Deploy. (Experience with other tools like GitHub Actions is welcome.)
• Create and manage project templates and deployment automation to support “self-service” capabilities for engineering teams.
• Ensure consistency and reliability across deployment environments by managing system configurations via infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Drive improvements in deployment frequency, release quality, and recovery time from failed releases.
• Build tools and implement processes to support seamless provisioning, configuration management, and scalable testing environments.
• Maintain version-controlled infrastructure and document all deployment procedures and tools.
• Support critical deployments, including hotfixes and after-hours maintenance on a rotating schedule.

Requirements:

• 2–3 years of experience in Release Engineering, DevOps, or related roles.
• Strong familiarity with TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, and CI/CD best practices.
• Proven ability to manage software releases across multiple teams and environments.
• Excellent project management and cross-functional communication skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Comfort with infrastructure-as-code principles and version-controlled configurations.
• Experience in Azure and Terraform is a strong plus.
• Experience with tools like SharePoint, JIRA Cloud, and VMWare is a bonus.
• Must be available for occasional evening/weekend release windows and participate in an on-call rotation.
