Job summary

Actalent in Nashville, TN seeks a Relay Technician II to perform essential electrical testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of protective relays in substations. This contract-to-hire role requires field-based work across the region with a company vehicle and travel perks.

You will lead testing, develop procedures, and analyze relay performance, while advancing NETA certification and safety standards through on-the-job training and dedicated time for certifications.

Qualifications

• NETA Certification or equivalent experience.
• Experience in the electrical power, utility, or industrial sector.
• Hands-on experience with electrical systems and testing.

Responsibilities

• Drive locally/regionally daily and be available for periodic overnight travel.
• Lead and promote a Safety Culture while being responsible for other team members.
• Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relaying equipment.
• Develop commissioning/testing/maintenance procedures for protective relaying.
• Test substation control circuits on relay panels, transformers, and circuit breakers.
• Develop relay macros and testing routines with verification of protection and control design.
• Perform end-to-end relay testing using relay test software and analyze faults.
• Examine relay settings and logic to confirm operation.
• Develop testing and isolation procedures for outages.
• Perform communication installations and testing (SCADA, GOOSE, Modbus, Fiber).
• Conduct circuit analysis (Equipment Protective Relays, Instrumentation Transformers, AC, DC, System).
