Job summary

KAMO Power is seeking an Electrical Engineer II – Relay to design and analyze substation protection schemes and metering, ensuring compliance with NERC and IEEE standards. You will work under moderate supervision on relay settings, fault analysis, and system protection projects, with opportunities for growth within the team.

The role involves coordinating with field personnel, commissioning activities, and documentation, while developing expertise in SEL/GE/ABB/Siemens relay platforms and relay

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in protective relaying or power system engineering.
  • Experience with transmission and distribution systems, SCADA, and NERC compliance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Generate Substation Relaying and Metering design including drawings, specifications and material lists.
  • Perform relay settings calculations, coordination studies, and fault analysis.
  • Prepare and review relay settings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Support commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment.
  • Analyze system disturbances and outages; recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, and field personnel on relay-related projects.
  • Ensure compliance with NERC, IEEE, and applicable industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to engineers and technicians.
  • Assist with system planning, upgrades, and protection & control capital projects.
  • All levels of experience welcome. Job level and pay grade will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
