Position Summary:

The Commercial Loan Officer is responsible for providing customized financial solutions to businesses while fostering strong relationships within the community. As a Commercial Loan Officer at Granite Bank, you’ll focus on understanding client needs and offering tailored commercial lending options, with an emphasis on serving the diverse businesses in our region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively prospect, develop and manage new commercial business lending opportunities by networking, relationship-building, and leveraging community ties. Attend industry events and collaborate with different departments.
  • Review financial statements, tax returns, business plans, and other relevant documents to assess the creditworthiness of potential clients, making informed decisions on loan structuring.
  • Design and propose flexible, business-specific loan solutions that meet the needs of our clients while ensuring compliance with Granite Bank’s lending policies and industry regulations.
  • Build and maintain lasting relationships with clients through consistent communication, proactive customer service, and deep understanding of their business goals.
  • Work closely with Granite Bank’s departments to ensure efficient loan processing and maintain a smooth experience for customers.
  • Research market trends and local economic conditions to identify risks and new business opportunities for Granite Bank.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of potential and existing loans to identify and mitigate risks. Monitor loan performance regularly and implement risk management strategies to ensure loan quality.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices at every stage in the lending process.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, business banking or a related financial role
  • Proficient in analyzing financial statements, cash flow projections, balance sheets, and other key financial data. You excel at evaluating a business's financial health and creditworthiness to make informed lending decisions.
  • In-depth understanding of credit risk management principles, including assessing and mitigating risks. You ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while safeguarding the bank’s interests throughout the lending process.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending processes, including financial analysis, credit risk assessments, loan structuring, and documentation. You understand the intricacies of commercial lending and apply best practices to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Proven ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities, establish and nurture long-term client relationships, and meet or exceed sales targets by aligning solutions with client needs.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Able to present complex financial information clearly and concisely to clients, stakeholders, and team members, ensuring mutual understanding and alignment.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess risks, evaluate alternative solutions, and make sound, data-driven decisions in the lending process.
  • Highly skilled in working collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. You contribute effectively to team goals while maintaining a customer-centric focus.
  • Demonstrates the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all client and colleague interactions. You handle confidential information with discretion and maintain trust in all business dealings.
