Job summary

Cathay Bank is seeking a Relationship Banker II / Sr. Relationship Banker (Administrative) to open new accounts, cross-sell products, and resolve customer issues. This role requires strong service orientation and accuracy in transactions, with occasional teller duties and adherence to security procedures.

The position offers competitive hourly wages ($22-$28) and a benefits package. Weekend hours may be required; bilingual English/Chinese is preferred, with potential for mortgage originator

Qualifications

• College degree in business, accounting or finance preferred, but not required.
• 1-2 years of cash handling, customer service in a retail environment, or sales experience required. Banking experience is a plus.
• Minimum 1 year new accounts, sales experience, or relevant banking experience, preferred.
• Motivated to consistently provide our customers with excellent service and help them achieve their financial goals.
• PC literate and typing proficient. Previous experience with data entry, 10-key, banking software, and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook a plus.
• Detail-oriented and organized – can multi-task, work well under pressure and follow through on commitments.
• Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills – can make personal connections, engage and educate the customer, ask open-ended questions, listen to establish trust and build lasting relationships.

Responsibilities

• Open new accounts for all bank products/services.
• Answer inquiries, provide financial solutions, and assist with problem resolution.
• Perform customer service tasks such as check orders, address changes, and other account maintenance.
• Maintain confidentiality of customer and bank information.
• Identify sales opportunities and cross-sell products to meet financial goals.
• Provide quality personalized service and maintain regular customer contact.
• Refer customers to Bank partners (Financial Advisors, Mortgage Lenders, Commercial Lenders).
• Support branch new business promotions.
