Job summary

Cathay Bank in Cupertino is seeking a Relationship Banking Officer to manage a retail customer portfolio and drive business development. You will open accounts, cross-sell products, and refer customers to other bank areas while delivering exceptional service.

The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge of banking regulations, and the ability to work weekends. Bilingual English/Chinese is preferred; Mortgage Loan Origination status may be pursued.

Qualifications

• College degree in business, accounting or finance preferred, but not required
• Minimum 5 years of retail banking experience with an emphasis on sales and business development a plus
• Thorough knowledge of Bank products and services
• Must be knowledgeable of and adhere to regulations and policies affecting new account processing
• Obtain Life Insurance license within 12 months of hire or designation as Relationship Banking Officer; licensing for FINRA Series 6 & 63 or Series 7 & 65 recommended
• Must obtain MLO status to originate mortgage loans; active registration or eligibility in NMLS within 6 months
• PC literate; experience with data entry, 10-key, banking software, and Microsoft Office
• Detail-oriented and organized; able to multi-task and work under pressure
• Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
• Ability to assess customer needs and provide appropriate solutions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to work weekends and extended hours
• Bilingual English/Chinese preferred
• Able and willing to commute for business needs

Responsibilities

• Manage retail branch customer portfolio and conduct business development activities
• Open accounts and cross-sell bank products/services while providing exceptional service
• Originate and process Mortgage Loans
• Coordinate with Bank sales personnel to deepen relationships
• Provide quality customer service and maintain regular contact to ensure retention
• Support branch new business promotions and achieve sales goals
• Perform deposits, withdrawals, and teller-related duties
• Ensure compliance with regulations and bank security procedures
