Overview

Relationship Bankers are responsible for identifying customer needs and matching them with the appropriate bank products and services to enhance customer satisfaction, loyalty, and financial well-being. They utilize proactive sales and service efforts, recognize referral opportunities, and deepen customer relationships while processing various cash and non-cash transactions.

Responsibilities

1. Identify customer needs and make appropriate referrals through proactive sales and service efforts.
2. Service, sell, and cross-sell deposit accounts, loan products, insurance products, cash management services, etc.
3. Deliver exceptional customer experience following Trustmark’s service standards.
4. Safeguard the bank’s assets and ensure security while processing transactions accurately (deposits, withdrawals, wire transfers, credit card transactions, loan payments, account maintenance).
5. Balance cash drawer daily and ensure proper documentation.
6. Achieve sales and referral goals quarterly, transforming service into sales opportunities.
7. Make outreach calls to customers and prospects.
8. Comply with bank policies, procedures, and standards.
9. Coach and mentor other Relationship Bankers and Tellers.
10. Review and approve transactions such as night drop contracts, ATM deposits, collection items, money orders, official checks, and cash drawers.
11. Manage branch cash shipments and vault operations.
12. Handle consumer loan origination.
13. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or GED.
2. At least 2 years of face-to-face customer service, retail sales, or prior Trustmark Relationship Banker experience with a proven track record of exceeding performance goals.
3. Ability to learn Trustmark’s consumer and mortgage lending guidelines and process loans within 2 years.
4. Registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS).
5. Basic math skills and ability to handle routine transactions and cash drawer management.
6. Exceptional customer service skills with knowledge of Trustmark products.
7. Pass assessments in customer service and math skills.
8. Ability to meet sales goals in a retail environment.
9. Basic computer skills and ability to learn internal systems.
10. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
11. Effective time management skills.
12. Attention to detail, quality, and accuracy.
13. Professional appearance and mannerisms for daily public interaction.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Prior supervisory experience in retail or banking.
2. Experience processing consumer or mortgage loans.
3. Two years of banking industry knowledge related to the Relationship Banker role.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, operate a computer, lift at least 20 pounds, and perform related tasks. Management may modify responsibilities as needed.
