Overview
Relationship Bankers are responsible for identifying customer needs and matching them with the appropriate bank products and services to enhance customer satisfaction, loyalty, and financial well-being. They utilize proactive sales and service efforts, recognize referral opportunities, deepen customer relationships, and process various cash and non-cash transactions.
Responsibilities
- Identify customer needs and make appropriate referrals through proactive sales and service efforts.
- Service, sell, and cross-sell deposit accounts, loan products, insurance, cash management services, etc.
- Deliver exceptional customer experience following Trustmark’s service standards.
- Safeguard the bank’s assets and security while processing transactions accurately, including deposits, withdrawals, wire transfers, credit card transactions, and account maintenance.
- Balance cash drawer daily and ensure proper documentation.
- Achieve sales and referral goals quarterly, transforming service into sales opportunities.
- Make outreach calls to customers and prospects.
- Comply with bank policies, procedures, and standards of performance.
- Coach and mentor other Relationship Bankers and Tellers.
- Review and approve transactions like night drop contracts, ATM deposits, collection items, and cash drawer management.
- Handle cash shipments and vault management.
- Originate consumer loans.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 2 years of face-to-face customer service or retail sales experience, or prior Trustmark Relationship Banker experience with a strong performance record.
- Ability to learn Trustmark lending guidelines and process loans within 2 years.
- Registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
- Basic math skills and ability to handle routine transactions.
- Exceptional customer service skills and product knowledge.
- Pass customer service and math assessments.
- Ability to meet sales goals in a retail environment.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn internal systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good time management, attention to detail, and professional appearance.
Preferred
- Prior supervisory experience in retail or banking.
- Experience processing consumer or mortgage loans.
- Two years of banking industry knowledge specific to the Relationship Banker role.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Must be able to sit or stand long periods, use a computer, and lift at least 20 pounds for coins.
