Job description

Service Related Problems (SRP) Stress Engineer

Location: Wichita, KS and Richardson, TX (2 locations // onsite)

Company: Spirit Aerosystems

Duration: 12+ months

Experience: 5 - 18 years

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform static, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis for aircraft structures using classical hand calculation.
  2. Understand load paths and extract loads from Finite Element Models.
  3. Determine critical failure modes and perform analysis to ensure structural integrity.
  4. Analyze aircraft primary/secondary metallic structures.
  5. Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  6. Coordinate with cross-functional groups including Design, Materials & Process Engineering.
  7. Participate in review meetings with customers and SMEs.
  8. Generate Engineering Stress Reports which establish compliance and safety.
  9. Interact with customers to understand the scope of work and methodology required to meet customer expectations.
Required Qualifications:
  1. At least a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  2. At least 5 years of experience in the Aerospace Industry as a Stress Engineer.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of stress analysis of aero structures.
  4. Hands-on experience in one or more Finite Element Post Processing Tools (e.g. PATRAN).
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience in providing technical solutions from conceptual to detailed design stage.
  2. Use of Finite Element Methods for load extraction and to solve complex engineering problems.
  3. Experience in performing fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
  4. Working knowledge of Boeing standards and tools.
  5. Working knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations, Title 14, Part 25.
  6. Experience with PATRAN, NASTRAN, FEMAP.
  7. Experience in CATIA V5, Enovia.
  8. Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  9. US National/GC holder/H1B/H4 EAD/F1 OPT (with experience).
