About the role

The primary purpose of the role is to underwrite a portfolio of business in accordance with the business plan and the guidelines as determined by the MS Amlin AG Board of Directors. The portfolio will consist of Property, Casualty, Specialties, Life & Health Reinsurance business including both proportional and non-proportional.

Your responsibilities

• Quote, underwrite, service and process business as per the MS Amlin Underwriting policies and guidelines.
• Responsible for the provision of real time aggregate accumulations.
• Analyse the current market and target potential new clients, brokers and products, whilst maintaining and building relationships with existing clients and brokers.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all MS Amlin reinsurance underwriting models and propose and agree improvements in collaboration with MS Amlin Pricing Actuary.
• Peer Review a broad cross section of risks, quotes and endorsements within an assigned portfolio regionally.
• Assist in analysing quarterly figures and producing projections to identify reserving levels required.
• Assist in the production of Board papers on a quarterly basis for the LatAm Unit.
• Attend Management and Reserving meetings.
• Assist with management, development and strengthening of all members of the LatAm Team in collaboration with the Lead Underwriters.

Your profile

• University Degree in insurance, business or related field preferred.
• Ideally 5 or more years underwriting experience.
• Possession of an industry related certification is required preferably CPCU or ACII.
• Experience as Reinsurance Underwriter in both proportional and non-proportional business.
• Existing good working relationships with both clients and brokers; strong relationships with Global brokers are critical.
• Detailed and extensive working knowledge across Property, Casualty, Specialties, Life & Health lines of business.
• Must have hands on portfolio control experience including the design and implementation of technical rating and aggregation systems as well as full RDS experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills coupled with strong negotiation skills. Working knowledge of at least one foreign language is beneficial.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Suite of applications with advanced skills in Excel.
• Must be willing to travel and work extended hours where appropriate.
