Qualifications

  • 7+ years in insurance with 5+ years in claims analysis or reinsurance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid understanding of reinsurance principles and practices.
  • Experience with claims or reinsurance processing.
  • Excellent organizational and detail orientation.
  • Proficient in Excel; able to manage data and reports.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • A college degree is preferred; professional certs are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze ceded claims for accuracy and treaty compliance.
  • Prepare and submit timely reinsurance claims to reinsurers.
  • Identify discrepancies in ceded claims and resolve them.
  • Handle internal and external reinsurance queries via a ticketing system.
  • Evaluate large loss data to identify claims impacting Starr’s reinsurance program.
  • Draft and distribute loss detail reports and summaries.
  • Determine facultative and/or treaty reinsurance coverage.
  • Calculate net recovery including deductibles and policy layers.
  • Collaborate with brokers and Starr claims managers to respond to reinsurers.
  • Support audits and IT/auditor logistics for claims systems.
  • Assist with accounting queries and payment documentation.
  • Stay current with industry regulations and best practices.
