Overview:
We've been retained by a leading life insurance carrier to identify a strong Reinsurance Accounting Supervisor to join their growing finance team. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of reinsurance accounting and financial reporting, with a strong focus on ceded reinsurance, treaty analysis, and compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise the preparation and review of reinsurance accounting entries, reconciliations, and reporting.

Lead quarterly and annual close activities related to ceded reinsurance.

Partner with actuarial, finance, and external reinsurers to ensure accurate treaty implementation and financial data.

Maintain and enhance internal controls over reinsurance processes, ensuring SOX compliance.

Support external audit requests and regulatory filings (including Schedule S and other statutory requirements).

Assist in treaty onboarding, system integrations, and accounting process improvements.

Mentor and oversee the work of junior accounting staff or analysts.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or progress toward CPA preferred).

4+ years of insurance industry experience, with a strong focus on reinsurance accounting (life insurance preferred).

Strong understanding of US GAAP and statutory accounting principles related to reinsurance.

Proven ability to review treaty terms and translate them into accounting treatment.

Experience with reinsurance systems and general ledger platforms; Oracle and/or SAP a plus.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
