Job Title: Reinsurance Accounting Supervisor - Life Insurance

Overview:
We've been retained by a leading life insurance carrier to identify a strong Reinsurance Accounting Supervisor to join their growing finance team. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of reinsurance accounting and financial reporting, with a strong focus on ceded reinsurance, treaty analysis, and compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise the preparation and review of reinsurance accounting entries, reconciliations, and reporting.

• Lead quarterly and annual close activities related to ceded reinsurance.

• Partner with actuarial, finance, and external reinsurers to ensure accurate treaty implementation and financial data.

• Maintain and enhance internal controls over reinsurance processes, ensuring SOX compliance.

• Support external audit requests and regulatory filings (including Schedule S and other statutory requirements).

• Assist in treaty onboarding, system integrations, and accounting process improvements.

• Mentor and oversee the work of junior accounting staff or analysts.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or progress toward CPA preferred).

• 4+ years of insurance industry experience, with a strong focus on reinsurance accounting (life insurance preferred).

• Strong understanding of US GAAP and statutory accounting principles related to reinsurance.

• Proven ability to review treaty terms and translate them into accounting treatment.

• Experience with reinsurance systems and general ledger platforms; Oracle and/or SAP a plus.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
