Job summary

Brown & Brown is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing Reinsurance Accounting team. The role supports the growth-focused reinsurance division and works with the Reinsurance Accounting Team Leader to ensure accurate accounting of reinsurance agreements and effective stakeholder communications.

The position emphasizes data integrity, timely reporting, and collaboration with clients, reinsurer staff, and internal departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in insurance or reinsurance.
• Strong proficiency in Excel and accounting software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Self-starter who works independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Record daily deposits and reconcile reinsurance entries accurately.
• Maintain spreadsheets for deposits, claims funds, and financial reporting.
• Record, report, and match billings in accordance with reinsurance agreements.
• Identify and resolve reconciliation issues with reinsurer activities.
• Coordinate communications with clients, reinsurers, and internal stakeholders.
• Assist audits by preparing financial documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Support process improvements and back up AP/payables and month-end tasks when needed.
