Description
Under the direction of the Clinical Director, the Rehabilitation Specialist will provide individual and group rehabilitation services to traumatized youth in our Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) in accordance with a treatment plan. Services are designed to enhance the client’s positive development, impulse control, and life skills and competency. The position will provide support for Child-Family Team Meeting (CFTM) facilitation, oversee life skills development curriculum and provide support in identifying and creating on and off campus enrichment activities and opportunities for CHS STRTP clients.

Job Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited or state approved college or university, as defined by the Department of Education, in Social Work or Social Welfare, Marriage, Family and Child Counseling, Child Psychology, Child Development, Counseling Psychology or Social Psychology, four years of experience working in a mental health setting in the fields of physical restoration, social adjustment, or vocational adjustment.
Or
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited or state approved college or university, as defined by the Department of Education, in Social Work or Social Welfare, Marriage, Family and Child Counseling, Child Psychology, Child Development, Counseling Psychology or Social Psychology and two years of experience in a mental health setting in the fields of physical restoration, social adjustment, or vocational adjustment.
- At least one year of experience working with emotionally disturbed youth
- Ability to apply physical restraints for behavior management
- Ability to provide crisis intervention
- Ability to facilitate groups
- Knowledge of, and ability to provide, basic rehabilitation or life skills coaching techniques
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Skill to maintain a professional, confidential work environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time in an efficient manner
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Communication/Language: Must demonstrate skills in communicating and positively relating to youth, fellow employees, interns, contractors, and business contacts. Must possess advanced ability to read, write and understand English equivalent to a college level.
- Computer Skills: Must have a strong knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook. Specific skills in software systems as required by position, such as Clinician’s Gateway and Extended Reach
- Awareness and sensitivity to the cultures represented in San Joaquin County
- Fingerprint clearance required
- Must pass a physical examination to demonstrate physical, mental and occupational competence to perform assigned tasks under guidance, supervision and direction of the supervisory staff
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must be a person who exercises good judgment and is emotionally mature, patient, flexible and calm with good communication skills
Essential Functions:
- Follow the Trauma Informed Care philosophy when supporting and addressing the needs of the clients and families served by CHS
- Carry a caseload of up to 16 youth
- Provide psycho-social rehabilitation services, including group and individual rehabilitation and crisis intervention
- Oversee the development and implementation of a regular schedule of enrichment activities
- Meet MediCal billing productivity and timeliness expectations
- Facilitate and/or participate in CFT Meetings
- Collaborate with internal and external treatment teams, as well as with family members
- Develop and implement interventions to help clients meet treatment goals
- Maintain and model appropriate boundaries
- Document delivery of services and complete all relevant forms in a timely and efficient manner
- Participate in CHS training as required
- Attend staff and other meetings as required
- Must have an attitude of friendliness and be able to communicate with all levels within CHS
- Must be reliable and consistent with attendance and punctuality to work
