Job summary

The Department of Labor seeks a Rehabilitation Counselor I to provide vocational rehabilitation services for individuals with disabilities in the Portland area. The role is based in Bangor/Portland/Augusta as openings allow, and involves coordinating documentation, workshops, and case management activities.

You will work in a team within the Portland Vocational Rehabilitation office, leveraging Zoom for remote interactions and supporting clients through individualized planning while meeting

Qualifications

• A four-year combination of training, experience, and/or education in vocational rehabilitation program development and implementation.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Proficient in the use of technology, computer programs, and office equipment.
• Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility and adaptability; able to handle changing priorities.
• Local and occasional statewide travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Managing and completing various clerical tasks including but not limited to mail handling and documentation.
• Completing orders (hearing aid, supply, etc.).
• Requesting and tracking documentation (invoices, medical information, etc.).
• Completing reports and meeting deadlines.
• Managing updates and maintenance for office equipment.
• Working within a paperless office environment.
• Gathering, entering, and attaching documentation into a case management system.
• Facilitating workshops and VR Orientation sessions for clients.
• Working with teams and individuals in-person and via ZOOM.
• Travel as needed.
