Job summary

Department of Labor in Maine is seeking a Rehabilitation Counselor I for the Portland Vocational Rehabilitation office. You will provide professional vocational rehabilitation services to clients with disabilities and support stakeholders across multiple sites.

Responsibilities include clerical tasks, case management, workshops, and collaboration with teams in-person and via Zoom. Local/statewide travel is required; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• A four-year combination of training, experience, and/or education in vocational rehabilitation program development and implementation.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).
• Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Knowledge of disabilities and best practices when working with persons with disabilities.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, individuals with disabilities, families, providers, schools, employers and other vendors.
• Proficient in the use of technology, computer programs, and office equipment.
• Flexible and adaptable; able to travel locally and statewide as needed.

Responsibilities

• Managing and completing various clerical tasks including mail, orders, invoices, reports, and equipment maintenance.
• Maintaining a paperless office environment and processing case documentation.
• Gathering, entering, and attaching documentation into a case management system.
• Facilitating workshops and VR Orientation sessions for clients.
• Collaborating with teams and individuals in-person and via Zoom.
• Local and occasional statewide travel is required.
