Job Description

Provides quality care under the supervision of a therapist. Supports departmental functions including equipment maintenance, cleaning and assisting the front desk.

Principle Responsibilities

Assist therapists. Provide hands on assistance as directed by therapy provider in therapy sessions. Provides safe patient equipment, ensures personal safety, and safe work environment. Recognize emergency medical situations, symptoms, and take appropriate actions. Uses equipment and proper body mechanics to reduce injury to self and patients. Uses communication techniques that reflect attention to age, cultural and population specific needs of the patient and family. Support department functions. Thoroughly documents relevant cleaning, maintenance, O2 tank status, and crash cart checks. Activities may include patient transport to and from department, transfers, escorting patient to treatment room or gym when appropriate, supervise patients on equipment, and perform modality set‑up based on training. Complete equipment cleaning, stocking, and ordering as appropriate. Participates in program development, professional practice, and quality teams as requested. Promotes rehabilitation services. Assist front desk. May include answering phones, scheduling, copying, filing, calling patients, outcomes management, and medical records functions as training security allows. May assists with the orientation of new staff, students, and volunteers. May ensures appropriate patient education information is supplied and orders as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description.

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or GED

0 to 2 years in a health care setting

Licenses/Certifications

Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below:

• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association


• Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross


• Allina in‑house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)

Physical Demands

Medium Work*: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $20.11 to $26.51 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
