Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a part-time therapy support role in Minnesota. The position supports therapists, front desk activities, and department operations. The 0.4 FTE schedule provides 32 hours over two weeks with an 8-hour day shift and occasional weekend work.

The role emphasizes patient care, safety, and collaborative teamwork within a hospital therapy setting. Required are 18+ years old with appropriate qualifications; preferred are a high school diploma or GED and 0–2 years in healthcare.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
• High school diploma or GED
• 0 to 2 years in a health care setting
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Allina in-house BLS training within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Assist therapists by providing hands-on assistance during therapy sessions as directed by the therapy provider
• Ensure safe patient equipment and environment, monitor for safety and proper body mechanics
• Document relevant cleaning, maintenance, O2 tank status, and crash cart checks; assist with patient transport and transfer duties
• Complete equipment cleaning, stocking, and ordering; participate in program development and quality teams as requested
• May assist front desk tasks including answering phones, scheduling, copying, filing, and orientation of new staff and volunteers

Job Description:

Provides quality care under the supervision of a therapist. Supports departmental functions including equipment maintenance, cleaning and assisting the front desk.

Principle Responsibilities

• Assist therapists.
  • Provide hands on assistance as directed by therapy provider in therapy sessions.
  • Provides safe patient equipment, ensures personal safety, and safe work environment.
  • Recognize emergency medical situations, symptoms, and take appropriate actions.
  • Uses equipment and proper body mechanics to reduce injury to self and patients.
  • Uses communication techniques that reflect attention to age, cultural and population specific needs of the patient and family.
• Support department functions.
  • Thoroughly documents relevant cleaning, maintenance, O2 tank status, and crash cart checks.
  • Activities may include patient transport to and from department, transfers, escorting patient to treatment room or gym when appropriate, supervise patients on equipment, and perform modality set-up based on training.
  • Complete equipment cleaning, stocking, and ordering as appropriate.
  • Participates in program development, professional practice, and quality teams as requested.
  • Promotes rehabilitation services.
• Assist front desk.
  • May include answering phones, scheduling, copying, filing, calling patients, outcomes management, and medical records functions as training security allows.
  • May assists with the orientation of new staff, students, and volunteers.
  • May ensures appropriate patient education information is supplied and orders as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 0 to 2 years in a health care setting

Licenses/Certifications

• Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below:
  Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross
  Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)

Physical Demands

• Medium Work*:
• Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $20.11 to $26.51 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
