Job summary

Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking a Rehab Technician for PRN coverage on weekdays, onsite in Hudson, OH. You will provide direct and indirect patient care under therapist supervision, assist with administrative tasks, and help maintain treatment areas and equipment for pediatric patients.

The role requires a high school diploma and the ability to work with children who are medically fragile, with BLS certification within 90 days. Prior rehab exposure and strong customer service are preferred.

• Transporting patients to/from therapy sessions.
• Direct/indirect patient care under therapist supervision (casting, transfers, toileting, dressing, bathing, positioning, gait training, etc.).
• Coordination of care between disciplines, providers and family.
• Provide care for physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients.
• Other duties as required.

Summary:

The Rehab Technician is responsible for providing direct/indirect patient care to multiple patients under the direct on-site supervision of professional staff. Acts as a patient/family liaison with medical and hospital personnel. Assists with various administrative responsibilities and department upkeep.

Responsibilities:

• 1. Patient registration duties, including, but not limited to scheduling, answering phones, checking in patients, checking out patients, collecting co-pays, etc.
• 2. Department upkeep including preparation of treatment areas and submission of work orders.
• 3. Equipment maintenance and assembly/disassembly.
• 4. Track inventory and stock supplies.
• 5. Video recording therapy sessions.
• 6. Transporting patients to/from therapy sessions.
• 7. Direct/indirect patient care under therapist supervision (casting, transfers, toileting, dressing, bathing, positioning, gait training, assistance with groups, etc.).
• 8. Coordination of care between disciplines, providers and family.
• 9. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
• 10. Other duties as required.

Technical Expertise

• 1. Experience in a rehab setting working with children with who are medically fragile or have disabilities is preferred.
• 2. Strong customer service skills required.
• 3. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
• 4. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.

Education and Experience

• 1. Education: high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2. Years of relevant experience: minimum of 3 years is preferred.
• 3. Years of experience supervising: None.
• 4. BLS certification required within first 90 days of employment.
