Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a part-time Rehab Technician to join our Medina, OH site. This role involves direct and indirect patient care under supervising therapists and includes registration duties and department upkeep.

You will assist with transport, equipment handling, and coordination of care between teams and families. A high school diploma and BLS within 90 days are required, with 3 years of rehab experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS certification within first 90 days of employment.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Experience in a rehab setting with children is preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) is required.

Responsibilities

• Handle patient registration duties including scheduling, phone calls, check-ins and co-pays.
• Prepare treatment areas and submit work orders for department upkeep.
• Maintain and assemble/disassemble equipment.
• Track inventory and stock supplies.
• Video record therapy sessions as needed.
• Transport patients to/from therapy sessions.
• Provide direct/indirect patient care under therapist supervision.
• Coordinate care between disciplines, providers and families.
• Serve diverse patient needs across physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety domains.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Summary

The Rehab Technician is responsible for providing direct/indirect patient care to multiple patients under the direct on-site supervision of professional staff. Acts as a patient/family liaison with medical and hospital personnel. Assists with various administrative responsibilities and department upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Patient registration duties, including, but not limited to scheduling, answering phones, checking in patients, checking out patients, collecting co-pays, etc.
• Department upkeep including preparation of treatment areas and submission of work orders.
• Equipment maintenance and assembly/disassembly.
• Track inventory and stock supplies.
• Video recording therapy sessions.
• Transporting patients to/from therapy sessions.
• Direct/indirect patient care under therapist supervision (casting, transfers, toileting, dressing, bathing, positioning, gait training, assistance with groups, etc.).
• Coordination of care between disciplines, providers and family.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
• Other duties as required.

Technical Expertise

• Experience in a rehab setting working with children with who are medically fragile or have disabilities is preferred.
• Strong customer service skills required.
• Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
• Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.

Education And Experience

• Education: high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Years of relevant experience: minimum of 3 years is preferred.
• Years of experience supervising: None.
• BLS certification required within first 90 days of employment.
