Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital North Canton is seeking a Rehab Technician to deliver patient care under therapist supervision, supporting direct and indirect services in pediatrics.

You will perform registration tasks, assist with therapy sessions, manage equipment, and coordinate with families. This onsite role requires a high school diploma and BLS certification within 90 days, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and safety.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform patient registration tasks including scheduling, check-in/out, and collecting co-pays.
• Maintain treatment areas and submit work orders for department upkeep.
• Assist with equipment maintenance and assembly/disassembly.
• Track inventory and stock supplies.
• Video record therapy sessions.
• Transport patients to and from therapy sessions.
• Provide direct/indirect patient care under therapist supervision (casting, transfers, toileting, dressing, bathing, positioning, gait training, group assistance).
• Coordinate care among disciplines, providers, and family.
• Provide care addressing physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs for patients of all ages.
• Perform other duties as required.

Summary:

The Rehab Technician is responsible for providing direct/indirect patient care to multiple patients under the direct on-site supervision of professional staff. Acts as a patient/family liaison with medical and hospital personnel. Assists with various administrative responsibilities and department upkeep.

Responsibilities:

1. 1. Patient registration duties, including, but not limited to scheduling, answering phones, checking in patients, checking out patients, collecting co-pays, etc.
2. 2. Department upkeep including preparation of treatment areas and submission of work orders.
3. 3. Equipment maintenance and assembly/disassembly.
4. 4. Track inventory and stock supplies.
5. 5.Video recording therapy sessions.
6. 6. Transporting patients to/from therapy sessions.
7. 7. Direct/indirect patient care under therapist supervision (casting, transfers, toileting, dressing, bathing, positioning, gait training, assistance with groups, etc.).
8. 8. Coordination of care between disciplines, providers and family.
9. 9. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
10. 10. Other duties as required.

Other information:

Technical Expertise

1. 1. Experience in a rehab setting working with children with who are medically fragile or have disabilities is preferred.
2. 2. Strong customer service skills required.
3. 3. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
4. 4. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.

Education and Experience

1. 1. Education: high school diploma or equivalent is required.
2. 2. Years of relevant experience: minimum of 3 years is preferred.
3. 3. Years of experience supervising: None.
4. 4. BLS certification required within first 90 days of employment.
