Job summary

Cleveland Area Hospital/Lake Area Medical Associates is hiring a Rehab Technician to support physical or occupational therapy teams in delivering high-quality care. You will assist with patient preparation, treatment setup, equipment management, and administrative tasks while maintaining a safe and organized environment.

Under supervision of licensed staff, you will help with patient transport, setup, and documentation in the EMR, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect therapy equipment and high-touch surfaces.
  • Assist with equipment inspections, maintenance checks, and logs.
  • Obtain, organize, and restock supplies and equipment for patient care.
  • Report equipment issues or hazards promptly.

Description

Rehabilitation Technician (Rehab Tech) supports the delivery of high-quality rehabilitation services by assisting Physical or Occupational therapists, Physical therapy assistants, and the Director of Rehabilitation Services with clinical, operational, and administrative tasks. The Rehab Tech helps maintain a safe, organized, and efficient treatment environment that promotes positive patient outcomes and exceptional customer service.

Under the direction and supervision of licensed Therapy personnel, the Rehab Tech may assist with patient preparation, therapy setup, transportation, equipment management, inventory control, environmental maintenance, and administrative functions. The Rehab Tech does not provide skilled therapy services but may assist with patient-related tasks consistent with organizational policy and applicable regulations.

Essential Job Functions
Clinical Support
  • Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and supplies prior to patient treatment sessions.
  • Assist therapists and therapy assistants with patient positioning, transfers, mobility activities, and treatment setup as directed and appropriate to training and competency.
  • Escort or transport patients to and from treatment areas as requested.
  • Monitor and maintain an organized, safe, and clean therapy environment.
  • Clean and disinfect therapy equipment, treatment tables, mats, modalities, and high‑touch surfaces in accordance with infection prevention standards.
  • Assist with equipment inspections, maintenance checks, and documentation of equipment monitoring logs.
  • Obtain, organize, and restock supplies and equipment necessary for patient care and treatment.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or environmental hazards promptly to appropriate staff.
Administrative Support
  • Assist with clerical duties including filing, copying, scanning, faxing, data entry, scheduling support, and preparation of reports.
  • Assist with maintaining department records, forms, inventories, and documentation as assigned.
  • Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) and other software systems in accordance with organizational policies and security standards.
  • Support department workflow initiatives to improve efficiency and patient experience.
Team And Organizational Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, departmental procedures, compliance standards, and professional conduct expectations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and organizational privacy requirements.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, mandatory education, competency assessments, and organizational training.
  • Support emergency preparedness procedures and assist during emergency situations as directed.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and customer service in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

The following physical/mental demands are required for the Rehab Technician.

Occasional (33%) – may include light duties as needed.

Frequent (66%) – must be on feet walking, standing, transporting and/or positioning patients.

Continuous (100%) – involves frequent lifting and transfer of up to 50 pounds with good body mechanics.

Additional tasks include using hands to handle, reach and stretch; may be exposed to communicable diseases.
