Position Overview

Western State Hospital is seeking a part time Rehab Assistant to assist in the development of and implementation of therapeutic interventions within the psychosocial treatment program; provide open leisure programming available to all patients of Western State Hospital; and provide on-unit programming on admissions units.


Key Responsibilities


  • Conduct 4-6 hours of psychosocial rehabilitation interventions per week, according to approved schedules

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating programs for weekend activities on admission PCUs

  • Ensures that interventions are appropriate to individual clients' ages, interests, and abilities as reflected by assessment data

  • Supervise assigned areas and monitor the milieu appropriately

  • Accountable for tracking patient attendance and participation for weekend programming on admission PCU

  • Complete planning and evaluation forms related to programming

  • Document incidents with the assistance of Rehab staff


Minimum Qualifications


  • Valid Virginia Driver's license
