Job Description













General Purpose of Job:

Provide assistance in the provision of patient care and non-patient related activities to support day-to-day operations of the department.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.



  • Assist rehab therapists with direct patient care.

  • Prepare patient treatment areas and treatment materials.

  • Perform general maintenance activities to promote a clean and safe work environment.

  • Monitor and request maintenance on equipment.

  • Participate in Quality Improvement program.

  • Order equipment and material as needed for the department, monitor supplies, restock and maintain appropriate supply levels.

  • Participate in staff meetings and in-services.

  • Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health Systems Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance, by respecting the Privacy and Confidentiality of those we serve.

  • Maintain files of items purchased, checking in all items received.

  • Monitor and order laundry supplies as needed.

  • Recommend purchases to maintain departmental functioning and efficiency.

  • Assist with chart closures.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills* Demonstrate physical ability to lift position and transport physically impaired patients. * Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, physicians, families, co-workers and other health professionals. * Demonstrate self-initiative and ability to work independently. * Demonstrate good time management in the performance of multiple tasks. * Demonstrate ability to adapt to changing work situations. * Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients serviced in her/his assigned service area as related to the principle duties and responsibilities of the position. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training and experience. * Ability to answer phone calls to the department and triage requests for therapy services
