The City of Covington is offering a Regulatory Services Intern position in the Economic Development Department at City Hall, Covington, KY. This part-time internship involves 20-22 hours weekly with 8:00 am - 4:30 pm scheduling, and a $12.00 - $15.00 hourly rate.

As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in urban planning, zoning ordinances, historic preservation, and the regulatory processes that support economic development.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in college/university in a related field.
• Junior, senior, or graduate student.
• Strong interest in public service, urban planning, and economic development.
• Experience with GIS or graphics software preferred.
• Familiarity with zoning or historic preservation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to Economic Development staff and assist with permit applications.
• Research economic development projects and prepare materials.
• Prepare PowerPoint presentations for board meetings.
• Input permit applications into iWorq system.
• Attend bi-weekly ticket appeal meetings to gain exposure to city processes.
• Post public notices and mail letters for public hearings.
• Contribute ideas to department projects and initiatives.
