Job summary

SMBC Group in Charlotte, NC is seeking a RRQA Associate to support risk-based assessments of U.S. regulatory reporting processes under the Finance Control Oversight function.

You will perform testing on internal controls, document workpapers, and collaborate with Finance, Risk, Technology, and Operations to ensure accuracy and conformance with regulatory requirements.

A Bachelor's in accounting/finance and 3+ years of audit or regulatory experience are required; hybrid work schedule offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field required.
  • 3+ years in audit, internal controls testing, regulatory reporting, or risk management.
  • Basic understanding of U.S. regulatory reporting requirements and banking products preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and analytical thinking.
  • Familiarity with data governance and regulatory reporting processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with assessment planning, analyzing report production and data sourcing and related risks.
  • Perform walkthroughs, assess risks, profile data, sample, and analyze data per RRQA standards.
  • Execute testing to evaluate internal controls, reporting logic, and data accuracy.
  • Prepare clear workpapers documenting procedures, observations, evidence, and conclusions.
  • Follow up on remediation actions and document validation results for closure.
  • Support continuous monitoring by reviewing regulatory developments and risk indicators.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Risk, Technology, and Operations to discuss results.
  • Develop expertise in U.S. regulatory reporting and risk-based assessment methods.
