Lancer Worldwide, a Hoshizaki Company, is seeking a Regulatory Compliance Engineer to lead regulatory changes and ensure beverage dispenser products meet all applicable regulations throughout the product lifecycle.

You will work with engineering, quality assurance, legal, and operations to maintain up-to-date regulatory knowledge, manage agency filings, and support product certifications and labeling to ensure ongoing compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of compliance management experience in manufacturing of food/beverage equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of NSF, UL, IEC, EC 1935/2004 regulations.
  • Certification in compliance (e.g., NSF Food Equipment Credentialing) preferred.
  • ISO 9001/ISO 14001 knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with ERP and PLM software.

Summary/Objective

The Regulatory Compliance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the company’s beverage dispenser products comply with all applicable federal, state, and international regulations. This role involves leading regulatory changes, managing compliance processes, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes that could impact the business. The Regulatory Compliance Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality assurance, legal, and operations to ensure compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Performance Indicators
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure new product designs and line extensions meet and are approved for NSF/UL and other required regulatory requirements in a timely manner
  • Minimize Audit findings by maintaining accurate agency files
  • Deliver new, or updated, Agency Files in accordance with agreed upon schedule.
  • Communicate and enable teams to be more aware of regulatory requirements to help simplify the approval process.
Essential Functions
  • Ensure products comply with all applicable food safety (NSF) and product safety (UL…) regulations and standards for their intended use and markets
  • Maintain expertise in NSF and other food safety requirements, supporting the design, manufacturing, certification, and approval of compliant products.
  • Coordinate product safety and food safety certification activities, including preparation and submission of documentation, testing, audits, assessments, and certification renewals.
  • Manage relationships with regulatory agencies and testing laboratories, providing required documentation, facilitating audits, addressing findings, and maintaining certifications.
  • Maintain food safety and compliance documentation, track certification status, and ensure continuous regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement controls to mitigate food safety and product safety hazards.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and product safety requirements, including validation of supplier certifications.
  • Support compliance-related product changes through Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Review product labeling, manuals, and marketing materials to ensure regulatory and certification compliance.
  • Promote Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), develop employee training programs, and foster a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement best practices and innovative solutions to strengthen compliance processes and product safety programs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Good command and understanding or working knowledge of basic regulatory frameworks, general regulatory and internal control requirements as well as industry knowledge in all aspects of compliance. Certifications may include UL (Underwriters Laboratories), CSA (Canadian Standards Association), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards, Electronic Immunities and Emissions (EMC, FCC and similar), as well as local regulations or deviations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multitask, reprioritize, and respond to urgent requests.
  • Proficiency in compliance management software and tools.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is desired.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance management required within the manufacturing of food/beverage equipment industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of NSF, UL, IEC, EC 1935/2004 regulations required.
  • Certification in compliance, such as NSF’s Food Equipment Credentialing Exam or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems), or similar standards preferred.
  • Knowledge / experience working with ERP and PLM software

This job operates in a combination of lab and professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and documentation storage systems. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

Sitting, standing, walking and bending as needed. Using proper lifting techniques may be required to lift objects up to 25 lb. with assistance. May need to reach objects at or above should height.
