Valleywise Health is seeking a Pharmacy Regulatory Compliance Specialist to assist in meeting legal, accreditation, and certification requirements across the hospital. You will analyze processes, support the Compliance Officer, and educate staff on safe medication practices.
The role requires a PS credentialing background, CPhT, AZ Board license, and five years of regulatory experience in pharmacy, with strong analytical and communication skills and proficiency in Pyxis and pharmacy software.
Under the direction of the Pharmacy Compliance Officer and/or Pharmacy Director, the Pharmacy Regulatory Compliance Specialist is responsible for assisting in the assessment and management of all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements to gain compliance in all areas. This position is instrumental in analyzing hospital process systems, working with the Pharmacy Compliance Officer to review compliance issues with regard to the AZ State Board of Pharmacy, DNV, USP797, CMS, and DEA, and ensuring continuous regulatory compliance within the pharmacy. Examines and analyzes information and data. Assists and conducts a Failure Mode Effects Analysis with regard to system failures within the medication use process and provides education to Pharmacy and Nursing staff. This position will also assist the Pharmacy Compliance Officer in reviewing and maintaining all policies, procedures, codes, and standards of the organization that pertain to a safe medication management system and pharmacy practice.
Annual Salary Rate: $51,916.80 - $76,585.60
Requires a high school diploma or GED.
Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is preferred but not required.
Must have five (5) years of progressively responsible pharmacy technician experience that includes assessing regulatory or state board compliance.
Must be trained in the use of pharmacy computer systems and automation systems, including business office software.
Must possess CPhT Certification issued by PTCB and be licensed by the AZ State Board of Pharmacy.
Must demonstrate competence in the knowledge of regulatory compliance standards respective to the safe and effective practice of pharmacy and policies of the hospital.
Requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in an organized, efficient manner.
Requires knowledge of mathematical calculations and medication terminology.
Must have knowledge of computer software, particularly pharmacy system software, such as Pyxis.
Must be able to work independently, set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests.
Must be approachable, people-oriented, and a good listener.
Must be a change agent able to develop, implement, and maintain policies and processes.
Requires the ability to work with professionals and maintain confidentiality standards.
Must have effective written and verbal communication, and organizational and problem-solving skills.
Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
