Job description

Position Duties
  • Actively complete daily duties required to monitor the use of controlled and non-controlled medications to proactively prevent diversion and misuse throughout the healthcare system.
  • Utilize healthcare compliance analytics software and related system reports to monitor user transaction activity and identify and prevent medication diversion.
  • Assist with monitoring and analysis of scheduled and on‑demand diversion audits and tracking reports.
  • Perform technical duties and actions required to identify, address, and resolve controlled substance transactions in ADCs.
  • Serve as an expert user for compliance analytics software and integrated organizational IT systems.
  • Support activities and duties to maintain regulatory compliance and continuous survey readiness for medication management.
  • Prepare and analyze reports.
  • Assist in monitoring and tracking of pharmacy department and relevant organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation medication management standards.
  • Maintain required documentation and files.
  • Assist in development of policies, procedures, reports, and other tools to improve surveillance and monitoring of controlled substances.
  • Participate in organizational compliance, regulatory and survey readiness committees.
  • Provide technical assistance and support for regulatory and accreditation surveys, including accessing and providing requested reports, documentation, policies, and SOPs.
  • Collaborate with multiple units (Pharmacy, Nursing, Quality, Risk, OBI, Legal, etc.) to assure compliance with best practices, accreditation standards, statutes, and regulations.
  • Perform pharmacy department and organizational medication management inspections in ambulatory and inpatient care environments to assure ongoing compliance.
  • Perform in the role of a pharmacy technician when needed for patient care.
  • Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested.
Position Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 4 years as a Certified Pharmacy Technician or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience in acute care environment or equivalent.
  • Experience: Experience with pharmacy medication management automation and systems.
  • Experience: Experience with word processing software (Microsoft Word, Excel).

    • Ability to relate collaboratively, courteously, and constructively with patients, co‑workers, physicians, and administrative and healthcare team staff at all levels.
    • Ability to effectively provide work direction to others.
    • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Additional Requirements:
    • National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) or equivalent.
    • Must be registered and licensed in the State of Arizona as a Pharmacy Technician.
