Job summary

Cust-O-Fab in Texas is seeking an experienced fitter to cut, fit, and tack weld heat exchangers, vessels, and towers. You will read blueprints and AutoCAD prints to ensure correct dimensions and comply with codes.

The role requires at least five years’ experience, safety-minded work, ability to work overtime, and strong math and geometry skills. You will operate oxy-fuel torches and Plas-Arc machines and maintain a low fit-up rejection rate.

Qualifications

• Must read blueprints and technical drawings to meet specifications and dimensions.
• Extensive knowledge of fitting metal components to set standards and codes for pressure vessels and heat exchangers.
• Ability to read AutoCAD prints for required specifications and dimensions.

Responsibilities

• Fit and assemble metal components of shell & tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels and towers.
• Perform thermal cutting using oxyfuel torch and/or Plas-Arc machine; tack weld per code.
• Maintain a fit-up rejection rate below 5% and complete work on time.
