Job summary

County of DuPage is inviting applications for a Registry Registered Nurse (RN) at the Kenneth Moy Care Center. The Registry role requires a minimum of eight shifts per calendar month, four on weekends, with each shift eight hours long and an annual hour cap of 1,000.

The position requires a Nursing Diploma and Illinois RN license; wound care experience is preferred. A post-offer physical and a background check are required. This role aligns with the AFSCME (Care Center) bargaining unit.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Current license in Illinois as a Professional Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Wound care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to residents’ calls and render services.
  • Plan and coordinate residents’ care plans.
  • Prepare dressings and administer medications as prescribed by physicians.
  • Supervise Nurses’ Aides in routine nursing activities.
  • Maintain narcotics and drug inventory.
  • Document to comply with reimbursement rules and regulations.

Job description

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Registry Registered Nurse (RN) within the Kenneth Moy Care Center.

As part of our Registry team, you will work a minimum of eight (8) shifts per calendar month, four (4) of which must be weekend days. All shifts worked must be eight (8) hours. Total number of hours worked per year must not exceed 1,000 hours.

As part of your schedule, you will be required to work a minimum of:

  • One (1) major summer holiday: Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4), or Labor Day.
  • One (1) major winter holiday: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year's Day.
  • As well as two (2) additional County holidays: Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, or Day after Thanksgiving.

This position is not eligible for health insurance benefits and paid time off.

Responsibilities include:
  • Responding to residents’ calls and renders services
  • Planning and coordinating residents’ care plan
  • Preparing and applying dressings and giving medications and treatment as prescribed by physicians
  • Supervising and guiding Nurses’ Aides in performance of routine nursing activities
  • Maintaining accurate inventory of narcotics and other drugs
  • Giving enemas and douches, catheterizing residents, irrigating bladder and administering oxygen
  • Contacting families or relatives if resident has needs
  • Overseeing documentation to comply with IDPA reimbursement rules, Public Health Regulations and Joint Commission
Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:
  • Completion of coursework for a diploma in Nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Current license in Illinois as a Professional Registered Nurse (RN)
The preferred candidate will have:
  • Wound care experience

A post offer physical is required.

A pre-employment background check is required.
