Job summary

Registry Certified Nursing Associate

As part of our registry team, you will work a minimum of eight (8) shifts per calendar month, six (6) of which must be weekend days. All shifts worked must be eight (8) hours. The total number of hours worked per year must not exceed 1,000 hours. Your schedule will require you to work: one (1) major summer holiday (Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4), or Labor Day); one (1) major winter holiday (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year's Day); and two (2) additional county holidays (Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, or Day after Thanksgiving). This position is assigned to the AFSCME Council 31 (Care Center) Bargaining Unit. DuPage County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Base rate: $20.00 per hour plus additional hourly tenure payment based on years of experience as a C.N.A.

Responsibilities

• Changing, feeding, and bathing residents
• Attending to other personal and grooming needs
• Serving meals to residents and feeding those unable to feed themselves
• Performing incontinence checks on every resident every two hours
• Providing basic skin care to residents
• Noting any unusual changes in residents' condition and reporting them to the RN
• Transferring residents to and from commode, bed, and wheelchair
• Taking residents' temperatures and vital signs
• Turning and positioning immobile residents every two hours
• Maintaining resident quarters in neat and orderly condition

Requirements

• Completion of the State of Illinois Certified Nurse's Aide Training Program
• Passing score on the State of Illinois Competency test
• Must be registered as active with a clear record on the State of Illinois registry
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Candidates that have completed the State of Illinois Certified Nurse's Aide Training Program without a passing score on the State of Illinois Competency test must receive a passing score within 120 days of employment
• A post‑offer physical is required
• A pre‑employment background check is required

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Physical requirements: Heavy work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than for medium work.

Work environment: The work environment for this position regularly includes working with residents and attending to their daily needs. The noise level is moderate to quiet.
