Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Associate's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of customer service, administrative, and/or data entry experience required.
• Healthcare environment experience preferred.
• Knowledge of database software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and record today's expected arrival queue and manage registrations for various departments.

General Summary:

The Registration Representative provides customer service coverage for Fisher-Titus and assumes the responsibility for successful financial outcomes of all patient services. This position performs imperative duties, including but not limited registration, insurance verification, telephone coverage, data entry, filing protected health information (PHI), patient referrals, and point-of-service collections while maintaining patient relations and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

• Greet and register emergency department patients in a professional, compassionate, and timely manner while maintaining a calm demeanor in a high stress situation.
• Promptly field and/or directs incoming calls, responds to patient/staff inquiries, and initiates triage notifications when necessary.
• Works with patients to coordinate and accurately record today's expected arrival queue
• Manage registrations for emergency, trauma, behavior health, direct admissions, transfer, and critical care patients while adapting to changing priorities and emergent situations.
• Provide assistance and direction to patients, families and visitors while demonstrating empathy and de-escalation skills during emotional, crisis or traumatic situations.
• Gathers and verifies all appropriate confidential health and financial information from patients while using various compute software to assure payment for all authorized services.
• Enters new patient data and/or verifies patient records are up to date, verify completeness of electronic medical records, makes changes as necessary, and files records in accordance with Fisher-Titus policy.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA, EMTTLA, Medicare, and other applicable regulations.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits within a timeframe determined by Fisher-Titus.
• Verifies medical necessity in accordance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) standards and communicates relevant coverage information to patients.
• Collect Point of Service (POS) payments in accordance with organizational policies while maintaining customer service excellence.
• Identify patients who qualify for ABN, TEAM, MOON, and IMM forms.
• Demonstrates knowledge of safety policies and procedures by maintaining a safe working environment.
• Exhibits professionalism in appearance, speech, and conduct. Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulations as well as organizational standards.

Education, Licensure, Registration and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Associate's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field desired
• At least 3-5 years of customer service, administrative, and/or data entry experience required
• At least 3 years of experience in a healthcare environment preferred
• Knowledge of database software applications desired
• Customer service, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills
• Efficient time management skills and ability to multi-task
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated skills in organization, planning, coordinating, and collaborating
• Strong understanding and comfort level with computer systems and Microsoft Office
