Registration Clerk Job Description
Department: Patient Services
Hours: Full time, 40 hours/week
Shift: 1st shift
Required: High School Diploma
Pay: Based on experience, starting at $16.54.
Responsibilities
- Any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by management.
- Changes outpatients, observation, and inpatient admission statuses as assigned.
- Collects payment at time of service.
- Enters outpatient lab orders.
- Escorts, walks, wheels all patients around to appropriate room or department after registration/admission.
- Follow-up on patients with unsigned Conditions of Admissions and/or other documents needing signatures for completion.
- Maintains physician "order" file.
- Monitors waiting room for an appropriate and timely flow of the patients needing to be registered or admitted.
- Obtains correct patient demographic information and insurance benefits for the Health Center and physicians.
- Performs all duties needed to open/close registration offices.
- Performs duties as outlined in Policy & Procedure during certain codes (i.e. Code Alert, Code Plan D, etc)
- Pre-register and/or pre-admit pre-op patients 1-2 days before surgery.
- Promote awareness and enrollment in Financial Assistance, Advantage 50, and all other hospital programs as applicable.
- Provides back-up registration for E.D. and all ancillary departments.
- Registers patient receiving outpatient and inpatient services at the Health Center.
- Responsible for cleanliness and tidiness of registration waiting area.
- Responsible for electronic verification of insurance coverage.
