Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Trains authorized agents on the use of Motor Vehicle systems and procedures.
  • Answers questions at the counter, during training, and by phone, assisting agents and customers.
  • Trains at various town and city clerk offices and monitors agent compliance with laws and policies.
  • Trains DMV personnel and other entities in the Motor Vehicle computer systems and related processes.
  • Performs customer service, clerical duties, and completes Motor Vehicle transactions.
  • Assists in implementing new software/hardware and schedules training.
  • Troubleshoots problems and verifies documents for accuracy and authenticity.
  • Attends meetings across the State.

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Safety, Division of Motor Vehicles, Bureau of Registration, has a full-time vacancy for Registration Bureau - Agents Clerk (Clerk IV) SOC Title 13-1150 TRNG AND DVLP SPECS-2 . This position has a 37.5 hour work week and is considered non-exempt.

Summary

Trains, monitors and assists authorized agents of the state and other entities on the use of the Motor Vehicle systems, and answers questions within the Agent Helpdesk consistent with applicable state motor vehicle laws, administrative rules and policies and procedures.

Your Experience Counts

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after completion of high school.

License/Certification: None required.

Other Requirements: Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check in order to ensure suitability for exposure to confidential information. May be required to work a flexible schedule including, but not limited to, early morning, evening and/or weekend hours. Must be able to travel throughout the state and work at various satellite offices for periods of time.

Trainee Option: Candidates with an equivalent combination of 1+ years of relevant education and experience after completion of high school may be considered and hired in 'trainee status' for this position.

After-Hire Requirements

Selected candidate(s) will be required to attend and successfully complete an intensive multi-week training program of classroom and on-the-job training, with weekly evaluations to ensure compatibility, suitability and ability to learn the complex motor vehicle systems, computer systems, processes, procedures, forms and transactions, while providing first-rate customer service in an expedient, timely, accurate and polite manner in a high volume customer service area or workstation. Continued employment is contingent upon successfully completing all aspects of the training program within the first six months of employment.

Responsibilities
  • Trains authorized agents on the use of the Motor Vehicle computer systems, financial systems, inventory control procedures and other related systems and procedures.
  • Answers questions at the customer counter, during training sessions and on the telephone, providing assistance to authorized agents of the state and customers, consistent with applicable state laws, administrative rules and the Privacy law. Assists as required in the DMV contact center answering telephone calls regarding all aspects of the DMV.
  • Trains authorized agents regarding NH motor vehicle laws, administrative rules, policies and procedures, which involves traveling to and working in various town and city clerk offices.
  • Monitors authorized agents for proper computer operation, financial system, inventory control and other related systems. Verifies that the authorized agents are abiding by NH motor vehicle laws, administrative rules and policies and procedures.
  • Trains DMV personnel and other entities in the use of the Motor Vehicle computer systems, financial systems, inventory control procedures and other related systems as required.
  • Performs customer service, clerical, filing, and general duties as assigned, including operating the Motor Vehicle computer system(s) to serve the customers, completing various Motor Vehicle transactions.
  • Assists in implementing new Motor Vehicle software, hardware and procedures. Assists with scheduling training as necessary.
  • Troubleshoots problems for authorized agents, including checking all documents for accuracy, validity and authenticity.
  • Attends and participates in various meetings throughout the State on a regular basis.
