Valley Health System is seeking a Night Shift Business Assistant for The Valley Hospital-Paramus. The role involves registering patients, collecting and reconciling payments, and handling notices of admission to payers.

You will provide financial counseling, assist with admitting, and support multiple departments with information processing and inventory management. Ideal candidates have 3–6 months in similar roles, strong English communication, and basic computer skills in a Windows

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; BA training program required.
• Completion of BA training program is required.
• CHAA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Position SummaryTo support the Outpatient Care Center, Centralized Department and patient by providing a variety of services such as registration, cash collection, cash reconciliation, notice of admission to payers upon admission, financial counseling, admitting, patient/department support, information processing, database management, materials/inventory management, education/development and unit-specific tasks.EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent. Completion of formal business/medical training preferred. Completion of BA training program required. Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification preferred.ExperienceAt least 3 to 6 months experience as a Business Assistant, Business Associate, Unit Secretary or equivalent experience. Computer experience - knowledge of windows environment. Previous customer service experience required. Medical office experience prefersSkillsEffective communication and writing skills - ability to articulate and use proper spelling and grammar. Effective interpersonal skills to work with co-workers and other staff members. Working knowledge of hospital business office billing procedures preferred. Knowledge of state regulatory requirements regarding charity care. Effective critical thinking skills, e.g., analytical, problem - solving, decision making, prioritizing, time management, etc. Ability to pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
