Job Summary

Patient Registrar – Mercy Health Physicians - Howland Primary Care

The Patient Registrar is the first line of quality service to our patients and the community. Responsibilities include processing patient registration, verifying demographics, obtaining insurance cards, patient identification, scheduling appointments, transcribing orders, explaining financial options, and updating medical records accurately and efficiently.

Essential Functions

• Provides excellent communication and customer service by greeting patients and the community respectfully.
• Processes admission paperwork and basic insurance verification, ensuring accurate patient identity for billing systems.
• Answers internal and external calls in a friendly and helpful manner.
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems promptly.
• Maintains patient flow and informs Supervisor of issues immediately.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• High School Degree or GED.

Experience

• Prior experience in patient registration/healthcare preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9 coding is preferred but not required.

Skills & Abilities

• Problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, 40 WPM typing, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Engages professionally with staff and patients.
• Basic math skills.
